How to Make a Bed Out of a Couch

Sometimes as a host you have no choice but to use the couch for one of your guests. Perhaps you have a lack of beds or just too many guests. Perhaps someday you will even find yourself on that couch. Couches are not the most comfortable sleeping spots. They are often small and lack proper support. You probably do not want to sleep on them for more than a couple nights in a row. If you happen to find yourself needing the couch, however, there are ways you can make it more comfortable.

Instructions

Take all the decorative pillows, objects and blankets off of the couch. Remove the back pillows as well to maximize space for the sleeper. The only things you want remaining on the couch are the pillows on the bottom. If your sleeper is prone to rolling, place the back pillows along the floor next to the couch for cushioning.

Place a nonfitted sheet over the bottom pillows, placing them all under one sheet if possible. This will protect the pillows from sweat and protect the sleeper from an uncomfortable couch material such as leather. Tuck all edges under the pillow, securing them tightly.

Lay another nonfitted sheet over the sheeted bottom pillows. Tuck the sheets into one end of the couch, folding the other end down as if you are making a bed. Tuck it as well into the back of the couch to secure it in place.

Place one or two full-sized pillows on the couch. Ornamental pillows are not often all that comfortable. In cooler weather, lay down another blanket for warmth.
