How to Make Easy Couch Covers

Sometimes stains happen at the worst possible moment. A couch stain right before you are expecting company doesn't have to throw you into a panic. What you need is a king-size blanket in an attractive neutral color, several large safety pins and a pool noodle. Watch for good discount sales at linen stores when they are changing stock. Often you can acquire two or three nice blankets that you can turn into emergency slipcovers.

Instructions

    • 1

Spread a king-size blanket or comforter wide open; this is best done with two people. Drape the comforter over the back of the sofa so that the comforter is centered lengthwise and the fabric is an even 1 inch above the floor in front.

    • 2

Rest the majority of the fabric draped across the arms of the sofa.

    • 3

Tuck the fabric into the crease between the back cushions and the seat cushions. Spread the fabric smoothly and tuck as deep as possible. Press a pool noodle into place once all the fabric is taken up.

    • 4

Tuck the fabric at the arms to bring up the hem on each side. If you need additional rolls, roll magazines, wrap them with rubber bands and tuck them deep along each arm. Fit and fold the fabric where the arm and seat back meet.

    • 5

Bring any excess fabric around the arms and toward the back. Create an attractive pleat and anchor it at several positions with large safety pins. Hide the actual pins on the underside of the fabric. Repeat this on both sides. Throw on some accent pillows and you have a covered couch.
