Homemade Leather Couch Moisturizer

Leather couches require cleaners and moisturizes with specific ingredients that penetrate the leather, without ruining the finish. Lanolin, animal fats or olive oil are the most common ingredients in commercial leather conditioners or moisturizers. Homeowners can easily mix their own combination leather cleaner and moisturizer that will remove stains and keep the leather supple. This prevents cracking or drying of the couch.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a small bowl with one part white vinegar and two parts food-grade linseed oil.

    • 2

Dip a white, lint-free cloth into the solution and wipe the couch with the cloth in soft, swirling motions that overlap. Re-dip the cloth whenever it begins to feel dry.

    • 3

Leave the solution on the leather for 24 hours. The leather will absorb the linseed oil, which acts as a natural moisturizer.

    • 4

Buff the leather dry with a second white, lint-free cloth. Wipe the surface of the couch firmly in a circular motion to remove any remaining solution.
