How to Apply Leather-Sofa Protection Sheets

Leather sofas are normally fairly durable, unless you live in a house with animals or small children, the furniture can take a beating. Spilled liquids clean up well, but scratches and gouges can permanently damage the look of the leather. Homeowners who want to keep their leather sofas looking good for guests, but who need to safeguard it from everyday wear and tear, can use protective sheets. Available in both plastic and fabric, leather-sofa protection sheets create a barrier that keeps sharp claws and toys from harming your furniture.

Instructions

    • 1

Throw a sheet of non-skid rug padding over the sofa. The padding will add an extra layer of protection and prevent the protection sheets from sliding around.

    • 2

Tuck the padding into the crevices where the seat cushions contact the back and arms of the sofa. Use a long wooden spoon rather than your hand to perform the task faster.

    • 3

Apply the leather-sofa protection sheets over the rug padding. Adjust the sheets to sit correctly if they are specifically sown to fit a sofa. Tuck in the protection sheets if they are fabric; however, keep plastic sheets loose to give the leather room to breathe.
