How to Close a Slipcover

Slipcovers for your couch come in a variety of styles. Many zip around the couch to secure them. Alternately, a homemade slipcover does not have a zipper and therefore must be fastened down to prevent it from sliding off over time. Always refer to the slipcover's instructions to determine its use, and to ensure the warranty is not voided due to misuse of the product.

Fit the slipcover on top of the couch, and gently pull the zipper starting from one end of the couch to the other. The beginning of the zipper is usually located on the back side of the slipcover, and zips on either side of the couch to create a seamless appearance.

Pull the slipcover over the couch to form the couch's shape, and insert a staple at the bottom of the couch to staple the slipcover to the end of the couch. Gently pull the slipcover as you staple the fabric to the couch to create a form-fitting appearance.

Tie the slipcover's strips together. Some slipcovers have thick pieces of fabric that run along the edge of the slipcover that close the slipcover over the couch. These are easier to remove than staples or other fasteners and can be tossed in the washer for cleaning along with your other fabrics.
