Instructions

    • 1

Locate the tabs on the slipcover that indicate the center front and center back of the slipcover. These will be in a slightly different place depending on the kind of couch slipcover you have, but the center front should go between the seat cushions and the floor, and the center back should go between the top of the sofa and the back skirt.

    • 2

Iron the slipcover if it is wrinkled. This can help make the slipcover look like it actually belongs on the sofa. Remove any pillows from the sofa.

    • 3

Pull the slipcover up over the seat of the couch and over the back. Align the center-front tab with the center of the sofa and secure it with a safety pin. Pull the center-back tab to the center of the back of the sofa and pin into place.

    • 4

Pull the fabric tightly around the sofa arms and the back of the seat. Pull the skirt down so that it just touches the floor.

    • 5

Fit the fabric tightly over the sofa arms and down the back of the couch. Tuck excess fabric between the sofa and the sofa cushions. If there is elastic between the back of the slipcover and the cushions, lift the seat cushions and place the elastic between the cushions and the back of the sofa.

Tuck any loose fabric into the seams and tucks of the sofa. Fold any loose corners into a square or "V" shape to make the excess fabric look neat and professional. Use extra safety pins to hold the fabric in place between the sofa cushions and the back and sides of the sofa.
