How to Clean a Microfiber Couch With a Carpet Cleaner

Microfiber couches are incredibly durable and stain-resistant. When you purchase a new microfiber couch, you will be given the option to protect it with stain treatment. Accepting this offer means you have virtually no fear of your couch becoming stained. Microfiber is actually polyester, so any carpet cleaner safe for polyester carpets will be safe for your microfiber couch. Since couches can take a long time to dry when they become wet, use a powdered carpet cleaner.

Instructions

Sprinkle the powdered carpet cleaner on your microfiber couch. Add a little extra powder on any stains or ground-in dirt.

    • 2

Allow the powder to sit according to the manufacturer's directions, usually about 10 to 15 minutes. Some powder brands must be rubbed into the fabric with a clean cloth. Read your powder's directions to determine the appropriate cleaning method.

Place the upholstery attachment on your vacuum's hose and slowly drag the attachment over your microfiber couch to suck up the powder. If your vacuum cleaner doesn't have an upholstery attachment, use a Black & Decker Dustbuster. Use your hand to hold the fabric taut as you drag the attachment across it. Be careful not to suck the fabric into the hose as this could cause tearing. Vacuum up all of the carpet cleaning powder.
