How to Get a Stain Out of Microsuede

Microsuede is a type of microfiber material designed to look like suede but repel water in a way that genuine suede fabric cannot. If you spill liquids on microsuede, the liquid will typically bead up on top of the fabric instead of soaking into it. Thus, you can typically avoid a stain if you wipe it up quickly. Microsuede fabric's water-resistant properties are not perfect, but when it gets stained, those stains can be removed. However, you must exercise caution with the materials you choose to remove a stain from microsuede fabric.

Instructions

    • 1

Wet a clean white washcloth with water. Wring the cloth until it is only damp.

    • 2

Apply a small amount of mild cleaning solution such as hand soap to the washcloth. Use a pea-sized amount, at first.

    • 3

Rub the cloth in a circular motion on the stained area of the microsuede.

    • 4

Gradually apply more soap to the cloth, if necessary. Continue to rub the cloth in a circular motion on the affected area.

    • 5

Let the fabric dry after you are done cleaning. Twelve to 24 hours is usually enough time.

    • 6

Brush the affected area with a dry, soft-bristled toothbrush after the fabric has dried. This will remove any remnants of soap and will often remove discoloration left by the cleaning process.
