How to Decorate a Sofa With a Blanket

Tuck the blanket behind the seat cushions and drape it over the back of the sofa. The blanket should cover the entire back of the sofa if it displays an image, quote or saying that you want guests to see. For example, a blanket with a scenic picture on it, such as the ocean, can add to an ocean-themed living room. Blankets with quotes or inspirational sayings can be the first thing you see when you enter your living room. Personalized blankets with family photos can allow you to share the images and enjoy them each time you sit on your couch.

Casually drape the blanket over the back of one side of the sofa. Spread the blanket out on one cushion or over one arm. Using the blanket in this way can add a burst of color or a touch of drama to the sofa and the room, while allowing you to easily update the look of the room. For example, drape a lime green blanket over a white sofa if you want to use lime green as an accent color, then switch it out for a red blanket when you want to update the room from lime green to red.

Add throw pillows to the love seat, chair or other seating in the room. The pillows should complement the blanket to tie the space together.
