Instructions

    • 1

Measure your couch legs and write this measurement down for future use.

    • 2

Purchase four sofa risers that will fit the size of your couch legs and place one underneath each leg. This is usually best done with two people: one to lift the couch and one to place the riser.

    • 3

Obtain four small blocks of wood from a lumber supplier or hardware store if you do not like the look of risers or if your couch does not have legs. In most cases, there should be an inch of space around your couch leg when it is sitting on the block for stability. For example, a 3-inch-diameter leg should be placed on a square 5-by-5-inch piece of wood. If you do not want something this large and you intend to keep your couch at this height, use an adhesive to attach the wood to the couch leg for stability, making it safer to use a smaller block.

Stain the wood to match the rest of your décor. If you have wood floors, it may be a good idea to stain the block the same color as your floors to create a seamless look. You can also paint the wood to match the color of the couch legs. If you are feeling creative, you can finish the block in any color or design you choose.

Stick a small nonslip sticker on the center of each block if you are not gluing the block to the couch. Place one block underneath each couch leg or each corner of the couch.

Use garden pavers for a unique, rustic way to add height to your couch. Purchase one for each corner and gently clean it with a mixture of dish detergent and warm water, rinsing it thoroughly. After the pavers are dry, seal the pavers by painting a light coat of paver sealant, available at most hardware and landscaping stores, over each one. Let the sealant dry and then place the pavers underneath each corner or leg of the couch.
