How to Replace Sagging Couch Cushions

Nothing looks more tired than a sagging, worn-out couch. Not only does it make your living room look bad, it is harder to get up from a sagging couch. You paid a lot of money for your couch, and before you give up and consign this one to the landfill, you can take steps to restore the spring to your cushions, and make your sofa once again the star of your living room.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide a plywood board under the cushions to provide support. This will help if your cushions are in good shape but the springs in the base of the couch are sagging.

    • 2

Unzip the cushions, and remove the inner foam pillow. Measure the pillow, and buy a new one at a fabric and sewing supply shop.

    • 3

Slide the new pillow form into the cushion cover. It may take some manipulating and pulling on the fabric to get the pillow inside. It will be easier if you work one corner, then the other, pulling the fabric toward the back.

    • 4

Shake the cushion back and forth to settle the foam cushion inside, then zip shut. Replace on your sofa.

    • 5

Rotate your couch cushions every few months to prevent excessive wear on any one spot.
