How to Get Red Nail Polish Off the Couch Upholstery

Maybe your cat jumped up into your lap, maybe your young child bumped you or maybe you did not properly screw the cap on your nail polish closed. Whatever the cause, your couch upholstery is now covered in bright red nail polish. Unless this garish stain provides the perfect excuse to buy new furniture, you should be pleasantly surprised to discover that the stain can be removed. Provided you attack the stain while its still wet, you can remove red nail polish from your couch upholstery.

Instructions

    • 1

Blot the red nail polish stain with a paper towel, removing as much of the polish as possible from the upholstery.

    • 2

Pour a small amount of nail polish remover on the stain. The nail polish remover loosens the nail polish. Blot the stain with a paper towel to soak up the loosened polish. Repeat this process until no more nail polish will lift away on the paper towels.

    • 3

Apply dry cleaning solvent to the stain. Like nail polish remover, dry cleaning solvent works to loosen stains on fabric. Blot the stain with a paper towel.

    • 4

Soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide. Blot the stain with the cotton ball. Blot the area dry with a paper towel.

    • 5

Mix 1 teaspoon of washing powder in 1 cup of lukewarm water. Dip a washcloth in the solution and gently rub the stain area. Blot dry with paper towels.
