How to Fix Sagging Back Cushions on My Sectional

Attached back cushions have the comfort of pillows, with the benefit of staying in place. Sectionals with attached back cushions often have a traditional look with cleaner lines than loose back cushions. However, attached back cushions may have issues with sagging over time, depending on use. There are steps to take to revive sagging back cushions, but you will likely have to occasionally work with them; often, they have zippers to allow access to the interior of the cushion, making this task much easier.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the zipper. Most often, it is on the underside of the cushion.

    • 2

      Unzip the zipper.

    • 3

Use your hand to push the stuffing, or batting, up toward the top of the cushion. Ensure you spread the inner material evenly to prevent the cushion from becoming lumpy.

    • 4

Add batting. The addition of batting will help with sagging cushions, although it's not always necessary. Pull the new batting apart as you remove it from its packaging. As with the original batting, work the new batting into the cushion evenly.

      Zip the zipper.
