Select a shade to color your leather furniture. If your couch is white or ivory, you can change it to nearly any darker color. If your couch is already a dark brown, you can only go with a very dark brown or a black recoloring kit.
Purchase a leather recoloring kit. These can be found at online retailers or at furniture supply companies. When buying a kit, make sure that it is your desired shade, and that it is formulated to work with your couch. These kits come in two basic formulas: kits for leather, and kits for aniline leather. Because leather and aniline leather couches use different dying processes, you need to make sure your kit will work with your couch. Research your couch or chair model online to verify what type of leather was used to construct your particular piece of furniture.
Put on your rubber or latex gloves to protect your skin from the chemicals and dyes in the kit.
Spray a mist of leather cleaner on your furniture, and wipe away with a clean cloth or sponge from your kit.
Stipple on the dye using a sponge from your kit. Apply two even layers for changing the color slightly, and up to four thin layers if changing the color from a very light to a very dark color. Each layer should be applied, and then allowed to cure for 15 minutes. The last layer should cure overnight.
Squirt a small amount of leather conditioner on a soft cloth, and buff on the leather to hydrate the pores of the material and prevent cracks from forming.
