Instructions

    • 1

Place pieces of nonslip rug underlay on the tops of the sofa cushions to provide a nonslip layer that will grip the protective spread. This can be especially effective if the sofa is smooth leather.

    • 2

Place the protective spread onto the sofa, and arrange it neatly so it fits over the sofa.

    • 3

Tuck the spread into the crevices of the sofa using the handle of the wooden spoon to help you reach deep into the crevices. Continue around the entire edge of the cushions with the wooden spoon to tuck the spread neatly.

    • 4

Roll up a magazine so the diameter is about 2 inches. Place a rubber band around the magazine to hold it tightly.

    • 5

Insert the rolled magazine into the crevice between the cushion and the side of the sofa. Push the rolled magazine down as far as possible to anchor the fabric of the spread. The magazine will hold the fabric in place to prevent it from untucking and slipping.

Roll additional magazines and secure them with rubber bands. Place rolled magazines every 6 to 8 inches around the perimeter of the couch between the cushions and the sides of the couch.
