Microfiber is a synthetic fiber made out of finely woven thread, giving it a soft, easy-to-clean finish. This makes it ideal for couches that are used frequently. If the couch gets a rip in it, it can be tricky to repair. Microfiber puckers easily when sewn, leaving an uneven seam that is easy to see. Instead, use a fabric glue to patch up the rip. This will dry clear and be difficult for the average eye to see.

1
Trim any excess threads away from the rip with a sharp pair of scissors.
-
2
Pull the tear together to see if it lines up neatly. If it doesn't line up nicely, trim is slightly so it lines up with a slight overlap.

3
Apply a thin line of fabric glue on one side of the rip. Pull the rip closed by lifting the unglued side over the glued side and hold it in place until it sets.
