How to Redo a Stool With Jute

Stools add special seating to bar tables and counters for kitchens and living rooms. Old stools cushions may sag due to the damage to the seat webbing underneath. You can add jute webbing underneath to support the seat fabric on top. Remove the stool cushion to redo the jute webbing.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the old webbing by cutting it off with scissors and pulling out the staples. Staple one end of the jute webbing at the center of the back of the stool along the inside of the frame.

    • 2

Stretch the jute webbing to the front of the stool. Poke the spikes in the webbing stretcher through the jute and pull until the webbing is taut.

    • 3

Staple the jute webbing on the inside frame along the front of the stool. Cut the webbing with scissors, leaving 2 extra inches. Fold over the excess webbing and staple it in place.

    • 4

Continue placing webbing from the back to the front of the chair. Add jute webbing in a weaving effect from the left to the right side of the chair. Staple the first piece of jute webbing on the frame at the left side.

    • 5

Run the jute webbing over the first stapled piece running from front to back. Push it under the second stapled piece and over the third stapled piece until reaching the right side of the chair. Pull the webbing taut and staple it in place. Continue weaving the jute webbing from left to right until the seat bottom is covered.
