Glider chairs move back and forth on a rail to provide a slight rocking motion. Many of these chairs come with a locking mechanism that allows the user to keep the chair from gliding while he stands or sits in order to prevent a fall. Since nursing mothers use glider chairs, locking the chair is an important feature for the safety of both mother and baby. However, some gliding chairs don't have locks, while other have automatic locks. The automatic lock is triggered by the weight on the glider's seat back. The chair will lock whenever the user gets out of the chair, and it will unlock when he leans back in the chair.
