Instructions

    • 1

Examine all the wood to make sure it is free of cracks, bends, knots and holes. Put on your goggles and hearing protection.

Use the saw to cut wood for the seat to a measurement of 11 1/2 inches square. Cut wood for 2 seat aprons to 11 1/2 inches, and 2 additional seat aprons to 13 inches. Use a drill gun to pre-drill all holes. Lay the seat down and stand the 11 1/2 inch aprons on opposite sides of the seat. Drill two holes per side to secure the aprons to the seat. Line the seam with wood glue, insert screws into the holes and tighten. Place the 13-inch aprons on the remaining two opposite ends of the seat and drill holes through the aprons into the seat, and also drill holes into the the 11 1/2-inch aprons at the corners of the seat. Apply wood glue, insert screws and tighten.

Make two legs by cutting and joining together two of each of the following pieces of 2x2 wood: 10 inches, 30 inches, 15 5/8 inches, and 30 1/8 inches. Set the 15 5/8 piece on the ground, attach the 30 inch bar to the back, the 30 1/8 inch piece to the front, and the 10 inch bar at the top, using wood glue and screws to join all pieces. Repeat for the second stool leg.

Attach the two rectangular legs to opposite ends of the underside of the bar seat with glue and screws. Drill from the underside so that screws aren't visible.

    • 5

Cut two more 2x2 pieces of wood to a 13-inch length for support bars. Affix one 13- inch bar between the legs at the back of the stool at floor level. Attach the second support bar in the front of the stool, 14 inches above the floor.

Fill all visible holes with wood filler. Stain the finished bar stool to match the bar, if desired.
