Instructions

    • 1

Cut 11 2-by-22-inch PVC piping pieces using a PVC pipe cutter or request the pipes cut at the store.

    • 2

Cut two 29-by-29-inch squares of woven mesh fabric using fabric scissors to create the chair’s seat and back. Cut out a 3-by-3-inch square out of all four corners of both pieces.

    • 3

Place both pieces of fabric on your work surface. Wrap all four sides of both pieces of fabric around a PVC pipe from Step 1 so it overlaps itself 1 inch. Secure it in place using straight pins. Remove the eight PVC pipes.

    • 4

Sew along the straight pins on the mesh fabric using a sewing machine threaded with thread that matches the fabric. Remove the straight pins, leaving four pockets on each of the two pieces of fabric.

    • 5

Reinsert PVC pipes into seven of the eight sewn pockets. Leave the eighth pocket empty. The mesh piece with only three pipes is the chair’s back.

    • 6

Place the chair's back in front of you with the empty pocket closest to you. Place two two-way, 90-degree-angle pipefittings onto the two corners farthest from you. Insert the ends of the pipes into the openings of the pipefittings. If necessary, use a rubber mallet to tap the pipes into place.

    • 7

Place the chair’s seat in front of you. Place a four-way PVC pipefitting on the two corners farthest from you and two three-way pipefittings on the two corners closest to you.

    • 8

Insert the two exposed pipes in the chair’s back into the upward facing openings of the four-way pipe fittings to connect the seat and back together.

    • 9

Insert one PVC pipe into each of the open ends of the pipe fittings on the chair’s seat to create the chair’s legs. Place a PVC cap on the end of each chair leg to finish the chair.
