How to Fix a Rickety Bar Chair

Continual use of bar chairs will lead to the separation of the legs from the seat. This will cause the chairs to become unsteady and easily tipped. By adding additional support to the chair's structure, you can renew its strength and extend the useful life of the chair. Routine maintenance and chair inspections also will increase the chair's longevity.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the chair upside down on a flat surface with the legs pointed up.

    • 2

Inspect all existing joints on the chair. Using a screwdriver, tighten any loose screws at these connection locations.

    • 3

Position one angle bracket on the inside face of one leg and flush with the seat bottom. Using the power drill, attach the angle bracket with two 1-inch screws, one into the chair leg and one into the seat bottom.

    • 4

Repeat for the remaining three chair legs.
