How to Clean a Micro Suede Papasan Cushion

The papasan chair is a bowl-like chair that you can adjust to a reclined or upright position. Papasan chairs are also called dish chairs, saucer chairs, mamasan chairs and egg chairs. The cushion of the chair can come in a variety of materials including micro-suede. Although some come with a removable cushion, most need to be spot cleaned.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove dirt dust and debris from your papasan cushion with a vacuum upholstery attachment.

    • 2

Look for a tag on your papasan cushion. If the tag has a W under cleaning instructions, you need a solvent such as rubbing alcohol to spot clean stains. If it has W/S, you can use warm water and a few drops of dish soap. In the absence of a tag, do a spot test with either cleaning methods on a small inconspicuous area of the cushion. Wait 24 hours to see if either damages the fabric before proceeding.

    • 3

Dip a wash rag into the appropriate spot cleaner for your papasan cushion. Gently blot the solution into the area that needs cleaning. Rinse and re-dip your rag as needed. Do not over saturate your cushion.

    • 4

Allow the papasan cushion to air dry. Use a soft bristle brush to re-fluff the nap.
