How to Care for a Pleather Chair

The word pleather is a combination of two words, plastic and leather. Pleather is a material that looks and feels similar to leather, yet it is made from plastic. The most popular form of pleather is a made from polyurethane film. This material is about three times cheaper than leather, and is easier to care for. Designers have utilized this material to make rich looking furniture that closely mimics many of the physical features of leather. Although leather tends to last longer than pleather, there are ways to keep it looking new.

Instructions

Spray the leather cleaner onto the pleather furniture. Remember, a little goes a long way. You can perform a test strip on the back of the chair first, to be sure the material doesn't have an adverse reaction to the cleaner you are using.

Once the test is complete, take the leather cleaner and apply it to the areas on the couch that you want to treat and protect. You can also apply the cleaner directly to the rag and rub it on the pleather chair. This helps to ensure a more even distribution of the cleaner.

Take the rag and wipe down the pleather chair. Make sure to clean off any remaining cleaner. The moisturizers in the leather cleaner will penetrate the material and help protect the pleather furniture. Proper care will keep it looking new for many years.
