How to Change a Caster on a Chair

Furniture manufacturers and do-it-yourself furniture builders place casters on the bottom of chair legs to allow the chair to roll across a surface. Rolling rather than sliding is more convenient for some homeowners. Depending on the floor covering, casters are gentler in terms of wear and tear. Many casters also swivel, making changing the direction of your chair simpler. Wear and use will cause casters to break, requiring you to replace them.
