Call upon generalized furniture repair personnel to address simple repairs. Unless the chair is unusual or is an antique, most loose legs, unattached seats or broken springs can be repaired by a local quality furniture repair shop. Typically repairs are performed in a workshop capable of housing necessary repair materials. Chair owners well versed in do-it-yourself projects or local handymen are other options for simple fixes.
Not all furniture repair personnel specialize in repairing chairs. Of those who do, many dedicate themselves to a specific craft or skill involving individual parts or types of chairs. Wicker and outdoor chairs need to be addressed by a craftsman skilled in reweaving, while torn cushions or fabric portions of the chair will need to be taken to an upholstery specialist.
While we can hardly call them chair fixers, craftsman who have mastered the craft of advanced furniture repair of period pieces are referred to as furniture restorers. These are craftsman trained in old world techniques often called upon to restore valuable antiques to original condition.
