Sit down on your recliner chair. If reclined, push the main recliner lever downward until the foot rest comes down and the back section is in the upright position.
Examine the area beneath the recliner for the adjustment hardware. In most cases, there will be a thumb wheel for quick adjustment. This is a plastic wheel you can grip and rotate with your thumb.
Grasp the thumb wheels on either side of the recliner. Rotate the thumb wheel 1/4-turn in the clockwise direction on each side of the recliner, or until the adjustment devices are at the same tightness on either side of the recliner.
Pull up on the recliner lever to fully extend the foot rest. Slowly rotate the thumb wheels on each side of the recliner in the counterclockwise direction until the chair's tension is at a comfortable level.
