How to Pack Wooden Chairs for Moving

Packing wooden chairs for a move requires careful planning for the chairs to safely arrive at their destination. If proper attention is not given to preparing the chairs to be moved, the wooden chairs can chip, crack or break into pieces. With a bit of thought and preparation, wooden chairs can be safely packed and moved without damage to the chairs or damage to other items the chairs may come in contact with during the move.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the chairs. If the wooden chairs are outdoor chairs, brush off any debris or dirt. With a cloth or rag, wipe the chairs clean, including the seat, legs and back. This will help prevent any chipping or scratching of the chairs during the move.

    • 2

Prepare the chairs. Wrap the arms and legs of each chair with bubble wrap or newspaper and tape securely. Use old blankets to cover the chair completely and tape the blankets to the bottom of the chair to hold them in place.

    • 3

Pack the chairs. Place the chairs in the moving vehicle side-by-side. Do not stack the chairs on top of each other, as they can easily shift and become damaged in the move. Place small, lightweight objects on top and around the chairs, using the wrapped chair for security of the smaller objects.
