How to Fold a Chair With a Locking Mechanism

Folding chairs make extra seating available when you have large groups over for parties or other forms of entertaining. The good thing about folding chairs is you can fold them up when you are finished using them, giving you more space. Locking mechanisms on folding chairs are an added safety feature to keep them from folding while someone attempts to sit or is sitting on them. Unlocking the mechanism allows you to fold the chair.

     Find the locking mechanism on the chair. It should on or near the legs or where the seat and legs meet.

     Unlock the mechanism by folding it up or down. This will depend on the chair and the locking mechanism.

     Pull the seat up against the back of the chair.
