How to Dress Up a Queen Anne Chair

The style of the Queen Anne chair is mostly distinguishable by the fiddle-shaped back, cabriole legs and horseshoe-shaped seat. A single Queen Anne chair could get lost in a room full of furniture. The elegant gracefulness of the curves doesn't shout out for attention, so the chair needs help to become noticeable. A subdued fabric gets a boost when you add accessories to highlight the colors, making the chair more interesting.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a pillow to coordinate with the chair fabric. Choose a color from the background if the fabric has multicolored design. If the fabric is a solid color, pick a complementary color that you have used throughout the room. Popular Queen Anne fabrics are chintz, crewel, damask, needlepoint, velvet and tapestry.

Drape a lightweight throw over the back of the chair. Arrange the throw off to one side and allow it to drape down the back and across the seat. A heavy throw is too overpowering for the refined features of a Queen Anne chair.

    • 3

Match an ottoman to the fabric of the chair. For a slight contrast, if the chair fabric is solid, opt for a pattern on the ottoman fabric using complementary colors.

    • 4

Cover the arm rests and the top of the back of the chair with lace-trimmed doily. Back and arm covers protect the fabric from becoming soiled with oil from the skin and hair and adds a pretty feature.

Place a floor lamp with soft lighting off to the side of the chair. A lighted lamp in the evening will showcase the chair.
