How to Cover a Chair in Fabric to Make a Vanity Chair

A vanity chair is a chair that sits in front of a vanity. It's most often used as a seat if you're using the vanity mirror to put on makeup or fix your hair. Vanity chairs don't have to be expensive. If you don't have one, you can use fabric to cover an unused chair to make it into a vanity chair.

Things You'll Need

  • Measuring tape
  • Fabric (amount depends on chair)

Instructions

    • 1

Use the measuring tape to measure the entire back of the chair. Measure from the top of the chair back to the floor. Write the measurement down.

    • 2

Measure the width of the chair back and write the number down. Add about 1-1/2 inches to the length and width of both measurements to have enough room for the seams.

    • 3

Cut out two large pieces of fabric in the length of the entire chair and the width of the chair back.

    • 4

Glue these two pieces of fabric together using fabric glue. Allow the glue to dry.

    • 5

Slide the fabric cover over the chair.

    • 6

Tie a satin sash around the back of the chair where the seat meets the chair back. Tie the satin sash in a bow behind the chair.
