When the you can feel the springs or frame of a chair throughout the upholstery fabric, it is time to add batting to the padding under the fabric. Batting is a thin layer of stuffing that adds a little extra plushness to your furniture. Batting makes furniture more comfortable and saves the fabric from wear caused by friction with the hard frame.
