DIY Felt Pads for Chairs

You have just purchased fabulous new chairs for your home when the realization hits you: as lovely as they are, they are going to totally destroy your hardwood floors. But have no fear --- this is a problem with a very simple, direct solution. All you need to protect your floors are some felt pads, which can easily be made at home using basic household goods.

  • Fabric
  • Pen or pencil
  • Rubber bands

      Place some felt on the floor. Put one chair leg on top of it. On the felt, trace the end of the chair leg with a pen. Cut out the quantity of felt pads you need for all of your chair legs.

      Cut a 4-inch circle from a piece of non-felt fabric. Make the same amount of circles as you make felt pads.

      Place one felt pad under each chair leg; then put a fabric circle under each felt pad. Pull the edges of each fabric circle up around the leg of the chair and wrap with a rubber band to secure it to the leg.
