How to Shrink Wrap a Chair

Relocating to a new home can be a real pain. Along with packing up every household item and lugging heavy boxes and furniture out of the house, to the moving van and then to the new home, many belongings require special preparation. Chairs and other plush furniture should be protected from the elements, dirt and dust by a protective layer of shrink wrap.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean out the chair. Vacuum the textile, as well as the space around and under the cushion, to get rid of dirt, dust and pet fur.

    • 2

Cover the chair with a drop cloth, bed sheet or packing paper. This layer offers extra protection during the move.

    • 3

Wrap the entire chair in shrink wrap. Begin at either the top or bottom of the chair and wrap it around, ensuring that the entire surface is covered.

    • 4

Plug in the blow dryer. Set the blow dryer on a high heat setting, hold the dryer about 6 inches from the chair, and blow the hot air. The heat causes the wrap to shrink.
