Instructions

    • 1

Place a piece of newspaper on the seat of the chair for which you intend to make a chair pad. Trace the shape of the seat onto the newspaper to create a pattern. Cut out the tracing.

    • 2

Spread your fabric out on a flat surface. Lay the newspaper pattern on the fabric and trace around it, a quarter inch outside of the pattern to allow room for seams. Cut the tracing out for the top of the cushion. Repeat this step for the bottom of the cushion.

    • 3

Decide how thick you want the cushions to be. Measure the circumference of the newspaper pattern. Cut a strip of fabric as long as the circumference measurement and as wide as your desired thickness.

    • 4

Place the top piece of the cushion on a flat surface with the right side facing up. Lay the strip you cut in Step 3 around the cushion with the inside facing out. Pin the edges of the strip to the edges of the cushion so both fabrics are inside-out.

    • 5

Pin the bottom piece of fabric around the free sides of the narrow strip with the wrong side of the fabric facing out. Sew the edges into place, leaving a 3-inch gap through which to turn the fabric right-side out.

    • 6

Remove all the pins from the fabric. Turn the cushion right-side out through the 3-inch gap. Stuff the cushion with fiberfill until it is as full as you desire. Sew up the gap.
