Instructions

  1. Wood or Metal Frames

    • 1

Rub a well-worn flannel rag over the wood or metal parts of the bar stool frame, starting at the top of the bar stool and working down toward the floor, to remove dust. Brush small crevices and corners with a soft, natural-bristle paintbrush to remove dust and debris from the surface.

    • 2

Add a squirt of mild liquid dish soap to a small bucket of water. Swirl the contents of the bucket to blend the soap and water.

    • 3

Dip a soft, cotton cloth into the water. Wring out as much excess water as possible, so the cloth is barely damp.

    • 4

Rub fingerprints, grease, grime and dried food spills off the wood or metal surface with the damp rag. Immediately dry the wood or metal surfaces with a clean, soft rag.

    • 5

Pick paste furniture wax or car wax up with a soft rag. Apply the furniture wax to all wood parts or car wax to all metal parts of the bar stool. Let the paste wax dry until it turns to a white haze. Rub the white haze away with a soft cloth to restore the shine and protect the finish.

    Upholstery

    • 6

Pick dried food spills off the upholstered surface with a dull knife or stiff plastic spatula.

    • 7

Connect an upholstery brush attachment to a vacuum hose. Vacuum the upholstered backs and seats of the bar stools. Remove the upholstery brush attachment and connect a crevice tool. Vacuum around the edges of the upholstery and nooks and crannies where the upholstery brush doesn't fit.

    • 8

Fill a small bucket with water and 1/4 cup of mild dish soap. Submerge a sponge into the water and squeeze the sponge above the water to express suds. Continue to dunk the sponge and squeeze until you create a thick layer of soapsuds on top of the water.

    • 9

Pick the suds up with a damp lint-free cloth and gently rub them onto the upholstered surface using a circular motion to clean away dirt and stains. You can also spray a commercially available foaming upholstery shampoo on the fabric according to the upholstery cleaner manufacturer's instructions. If the upholstery is nonwashable, only clean spots with a water-free solvent or dry-cleaning fluid.

    • 10

Wipe the upholstery with a damp lint-free cloth to remove soap residue.
