One advantage to mesh chairs is the superior amount of ventilation the chairs offer. Because mesh chairs have a mesh back and often a mesh bottom, air flow is maintained to the parts of the body covered by the seat. With fabric chairs, these parts are covered totally by a thicker layer of cloth that does not allow for the same extent of air flow. Increased ventilation makes mesh chairs better for several outdoor situations such as lounging at the beach or by the pool during the summer. Also, the ventilation means more water from a pool will pass through the chair instead of retaining in the cloth. Increased airflow is also valuable in warehouses that do not feature adequate air conditioning.
Mesh is made from a soft vinyl blend. This plastic substance is not rough or abrasive, but is not particularly soft either. Fabric chairs are made from a range of materials including velvet, microfiber, cotton, canvas, corduroy and several more. The result is increased range of texture from the very soft to the very coarse.
Mesh chairs may offer more access to ventilation but they come up short to fabric chairs on choice. From microfiber cloth that looks similar to suede to unbleached, Earth-toned canvas, cloth chairs feature several configurations and inhabit different areas in and out of the home. The dining room, living room and bedroom all feature several incarnations of the cloth chair from recliners to easy chairs and dining table chairs. Mesh chairs, on the other hand, are more commonly office chairs, patio dining chairs and recreational chairs.
Another benefit of fabric chairs over mesh is cushioning. Mesh chairs do not feature cushioning because the mesh material does not properly contain cushion material. Additionally, cushion material such as foam or stuffing would undermine the ventilation properties of mesh. Fabric chairs often feature luxurious cushioning. This allows you to stay comfortable for much longer in a cushioned chair than in a mesh chair.
