How to Change an Ottoman Button

If you have an ottoman with a decorative button that has fallen off -- or you would like to change the look of your ottoman by placing a new, different button on it -- then attach it with a simple process and few basic craft materials. By using hook and loop patches, you can continue changing the buttons in the future.

Things You'll Need

  • Hook and dot patches
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions

      Load a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun.

      Plug the hot glue into a power outlet. Allow the glue to warm up.

      Squeeze a dot of glue on the back of a covered fabric button. Immediately press a small hook and loop patch into the glue so that the patch is flush against the button. Allow the glue to dry.

      Squeeze a small dot of glue on the back of the matching hook and loop patch and then press the patch immediately onto the ottoman. Allow the glue to dry before pressing the fabric covered button with its attached patch onto the matching patch on the ottoman.
