Sand four 2-by-6 wood boards, two 77 inches long and two 56 inches long, with fine-grit sandpaper, which is a finishing paper. Sand with the natural grain of the wood and remove any splinters or rough spots.
Create a 3/4-inch groove on each of the 77-inch-long pieces with a router and 3/4-inch bit. Attach the bit to the router. Hold the piece upright so it measures 6 inches from the top to the bottom. Carefully run the router across the wood, removing 3/4 inch from the top of the wood. Repeat this step with the second 77-inch piece.
Set the four wood boards into a box shape, which serves as your platform. Coat the ends of each board with wood glue and press against another board. The shorter pieces act as the headboard and footboard sides, while the longer boards create the length of the bed.
Sink 3-inch decking screws into one corner of the platform. Space 3-inch screws every one inch down the wood. Repeat this step on each corner. The screws add stability and security to the wood.
Cut a plywood board into 10 pieces measuring 4 inches wide and 56 inches long, which is the bed's width. Place the plywood boards on the top of the platform. Each piece should fit between the longer sides and sit flush on the edge you made with the router. Sink two of the 3-inch wood screws through each end of the plywood and into the platform.
Turn the platform bed frame upside down and attach a plywood board the same size as the bed frame to the bottom. Sink 3-inch decking screws through the plywood and into the platform frame.
Place one caster on each corner. Sink 3-inch wood screws through the four holes in each caster, affixing it to the bottom. Attach each caster and turn the bed over again with the casters touching the floor.
