The Coaster Company distributes home, office and entertainment furniture under the brand Coaster Fine Furniture. Its home range includes furniture for different rooms in the house, including the bedroom, lounge and dining room. Although wooden beds vary in the type of wood, style, design and price range, their basic disassembly instructions are the same. Loosen the hardware from the head and foot boards and pull them out to loosen the two longer sides of the bed.
Make a rough sketch of the bed on paper with the locations for the nuts and bolts that connect its different parts, so you know where each parts goes when reassembling it. Remove obstructions from the path through which you will take out the dismantled bed to reduce chances of trips or falls. Push the wood bed away from the wall it is against to provide room to work and reduce wall damage. Remove the bedding, pillows and mattress from the bed, exposing its wood frame, and set these aside. Because the wood head and foot boards are heavy, assigning a helper during the process reduces labor and time.
Inspect whether the pieces of the frame are held together by screws or bolts, so you use a screwdriver or Allen wrench respectively. Loosen the hardware at the inner or outer corners of the bed, depending on its model. Collect the hardware in a container or zipper bag so you do not misplace or lose any piece. Pull the headboard from the two perpendicular lengths along the sides of the bed, followed by the footboard. Pile the boards on top of each other before taking them out.
The Coaster wood bed may collapse on a side or corner as soon as its bolts or screws are removed. Take this into consideration so you do not pull the wood, or the frame could crack. When pulling out a loose wood frame board, grasp it firmly so it does not slip down on your feet. Keep a tack cloth handy to wipe dust off the inner corners or lower surfaces of the boards before loosening and removing them.
