Repair Glue for Waterbeds

Occasionally, a waterbed may develop a puncture and begin leaking water. The culprit is usually an animal claw or a piece of debris that has made it's way between the mattress and the mattress liner. Small holes can become large quickly and should be repaired with a vinyl cement and a waterbed mattress patch as soon as possible. A rip in your mattress seam is cause for concern. Seams cannot be patched with repair glue; the mattress must be replaced or returned to the manufacturer for repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the leak. Pull bedding away from any wet spots and press on the mattress until you see water squirting or dribbling out of the mattress. If the leak is on the bottom of the mattress, you will have to drain it before locating the leak. If you know the approximate location of the leak but still can't find it, rub a bit of dish soap and water onto the area and look for any bubble formation that may pinpoint the hole.

    • 2

Circle leak with a permanent marker, then dry off the area with a towel.

    • 3

Cut a patch into a circle big enough to just cover the leak.

    • 4

Dab a small amount of adhesive over the hole and onto the patch itself. Spread the adhesive over the entire area of the patch. Allow the glue to become slightly tacky before covering the leak.

Press the patch into the mattress over the leak. Gently replace the mattress and allow the glue to dry for several hours before sleeping on the bed.
