Types of AeroBeds

AeroBeds are mattresses that quickly inflate and deflate. In 1992, the process was patented with a mattress that fully inflated in less than 60 seconds using a built-in pump. The quick-release valve allowed the bed to deflate in 15 seconds. Additionally, the mattresses offered adjustable firmness levels. Once sold only on TV infomercials, the AeroBed company now has wide distribution and offers an expanded product line.
  1. Mattress Types

    • AeroBed mattresses have the same thickness as traditional mattresses and come in different sizes. This includes twin, full and queen sizes. To use as a guest bed, the lightweight mattress is used alone, inflates in less than one minute, and is easy to deflate, pack up and store away in a bag.

    Raised Beds

    • Raised AeroBeds have mattresses that rise up off the floor to a full 24 inches. Raised beds look and feel like a traditional bed. They offer support, and the height makes it easy for guests to get in and out of the bed. Raised mattresses also come in twin, full and queen sizes.

    Pillow Top

    • Pillow-top AeroBeds have an added pillow-top cushion. The beds are available in twin, full and queen, as well as raised, and include a washable mattress cover. The bed inflates in less than 60 seconds using a recessed-pump system. Also included is a control wand that provides customized comfort levels. Pillow-top models are made of a heavy-gauge PVC with seams electronically welded for strength and long durability.

    Indoor/Outdoor

    • AeroBeds are used indoors for guests, while traveling and in college dorms. Some types of AeroBeds are specially designed to be used outdoors for camping. One outdoor model comes with a slight pyramid shape that adds support and stability on all sides. The air pump is charged via the car-lighter plug. Outdoor models are built to be rugged and resist puncturing.

    The Pakmat

    • The Pakmat is a new type of AeroBed that is safer for the environment. The Pakmat is made of a phthalate-free polyester fabric. Additionally, no external power source or batteries are necessary because the Pakmat is inflated in 60 seconds by an easy pumping motion.
