Olympic Queen Size Vs. King

When you decide to purchase new bedding, you need to choose something that suits your personal taste and fits in with your decor but also fits the size of your bed. Knowing the exact dimensions of your bed determines how wide and long your sheet and comforter should be and how much space you have to move around during the night or to share with that special someone. The Olympic queen bed and king bed are comparable in size.
  1. Length

    • An Olympic queen bed measures the same as a king-size bed at 80 inches or 6 feet, 8 inches long. Both beds are ideal for taller individuals who need the extra leg room.

    Width

    • An Olympic queen varies from the original queen by adding 6 inches to the width, making it 66 inches or 5 feet, 6 inches wide. An original queen bed measures only 60 inches wide. A king-size bed is significantly wider and comfortably accommodates two people in 76 inches or 6 feet, 4 inches of width.

    Larger

    • If you need a larger bed than the Olympic queen, consider going for a California king, which replaces some of the extra width with length, making it an overall 84 inches, or 7 feet, long, and 72 inches, or 6 feet, wide. California king-size beds are made specifically for extra-tall individuals who don't want their feet hanging off the edge of the bed.

    Smaller

    • If you feel an Olympic queen bed is too large, consider getting a traditional queen bed, which is still 80 inches long but only 60 inches wide, as opposed to 66 inches. If you're really tightly cramped for space, you may opt instead to go even smaller to a full-size bed, measuring 54 inches wide by 75 inches long, or a twin, which is still 75 inches long but only 37 inches wide.
