How to Adjust a Microsuede Futon

The soft and durable fabric known as microsuede is a good choice when it comes to futons. Microsuede is easy to clean and water resistant, and it stands up well to daily use. If you have a microsuede futon in your home, you can use it as a sofa and seating area, but you can also press it into service as an extra bed when you need to. Some microsuede futons are fully adjustable from a flat position to a full-seated one, while others have a more limited range of motion.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the back of the microsuede futon and look for a metal mechanism with a number of locking positions. If you see this mechanism, you have a click type futon. Otherwise, you have a bi-fold model.

    • 2

Lift up on the back of the futon to remove it from its current position. You should see the futon frame disengage from the metal teeth in the click mechanism.

    • 3

Tilt the futon back to the position you want. Move the back of the futon the whole way back if you want to convert it into a bed. Place the futon frame on the click mechanism teeth to hold it in place.

    • 4

Pull the seat section forward, then push on the back to recline a bi-fold futon. If you have a bi-fold microsuede futon you can put it into the standard position and use it as a sofa, or lay it flat to use it as a bed.
