How to Make a Waterbed Sheet Using Velcro

Water bed sheets are larger than regular sheets. The extra material extends beneath the mattress by a few inches to help keep the sheets from slipping off the corners of the mattress when you lay on the bed. It's a good idea to purchase sheets designed for a water bed, but if you can't find any you like or you are in a pinch, you can modify regular sheets for use with a waterbed mattress using hook-and-loop fastener strips, commonly called by a brand name, Velcro.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut four 6-inch strips of hook-and-loop tape from the roll.

    • 2

Measure the depth of the bed frame and apply one side of each strip of Velcro to the inside edges of the corners of the bed, halfway down the side of the frame.

    • 3

Lay the fitted sheets out on the bed, pull each corner taut to smooth the sheet and mark the location on each corner that corresponds with the Velcro on the bed frame.

    • 4

Apply the other half of each strip across the outside corner seams of the fitted sheets along the marked section of the seam.

    • 5

Sew the hook-and-loop strips to the bed sheet.
