How to Hang Sheers on a Canopy Bed

Sheers are translucent curtains made of lightweight, see-through fabrics. Sheers draped on a canopy bed give the room a romantic, airy look and can provide lightness to a dark-colored or heavy canopy bed. You do not need attachments to drape a canopy bed in sheers, as long as the fabric is long enough. Select sheers in any color or pattern that matches your decor, though a print will appear subtle because of the sheer fabric.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the height of the bed canopy from the floor to the top of the canopy and multiply that number by two. Measure the width of the bed. Add these measurements together. For example, if the bed is 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide, your final measurement will be 22 feet.

    • 2

Select two panels of sheer fabric in your desired color or pattern that are both the same length as your total measurement. If the panels are longer than your measurement, they will pool on the floor by the bed, or you can cut them to the right length with scissors.

    • 3

Drape the sheers across the top of the canopy, with one panel across the head of the bed and one at the foot. Adjust each sheer panel so it drapes down an equal amount on each side of the bed. They should just touch the floor.
