Outline the shape of a dinosaur on a piece of 1/2-inch plywood. Use an image from a dinosaur book or online resource as a guide. Make the dinosaur’s body the length of the mattress.
Cut the dinosaur shape out of the plywood using a jigsaw.
Smooth the edges of the cutout using medium-grit sandpaper. Brush away any sawdust with a dry paintbrush.
Paint the dinosaur, as desired, using flat, wall paint. Choose colors that match the bedding for the room. Let the paint dry overnight. Apply a second coat, if necessary, for full coverage.
Paint details on the dinosaur after the base coat dries, including eyes, nose and a mouth. Use a dinosaur image for detail reference. Let the paint dry overnight.
Seal the surface of the dinosaur with an acrylic spay sealant. Spray the surface of the wood cutout according to the bottle's directions. Let it dry overnight.
Attach the dinosaur to the wall where you want the bed to be, using a hammer and nails. Place the nails 1 inch in from the outer edge of the dinosaur, every 12 inches, for best results.
Place a bedframe against the dinosaur, running the length of the dinosaur’s body, and set up the bed.
