Though there are many elaborate bedroom sets available, many beds lack a frame with a headboard and footboard. Your bed may consist only of a mattress stacked atop its coordinating box spring, or only a single mattress placed on a modern platform base. However, a bed without a frame can look lost in a large bedroom, almost like a floating island. A headboard is not only decorative, it helps give the bed presence. Even if a traditional headboard is not your taste, there are several options besides pretty bedding to decorate your frameless bed.

1
Create a headboard from pillows. Place the bed against a wall and attach the pillows to the wall above the head of the bed using Velcro strips. You can vary the shapes, sizes and colors of the pillows for a dynamic look.

2
Hang a mirror on the wall behind the bed. The mirror itself will anchor the bed, and the reflection will give the illusion that the bed and the room are larger.

Push the bed into a corner. Decorate the two walls bordering the bed with framed pictures. This will make the bed look more like a substantial piece of furniture.
