How to Create an Elevated Wooden Dog Bed

Frame

  Measure the distance around your dog while it is comfortably sleeping. Use the measurements to calculate how large of a rectangle space your dog needs to sleep.

  Cut four pieces of 2-by-4-inch lumber to use for the rectangle part of the frame. The four pieces of lumber should form a rectangle that allows enough room for your dog to sleep. Screw the rectangle together with two wood screws at each corner.

  Cut four legs measuring 8 inches long from 2-by-4 inch lumber. Attach the legs to the inside of the rectangle using two wood screws at each joint. This is the frame for the dog bed.

  Cover the wood with wood stain.

Webbing

  Place the frame of the dog bed up on the legs. Attach a piece of 1-inch webbing underneath and in the center of one of the boards forming the rectangle using a staple. Stretch the webbing out tightly across the frame. Staple the webbing underneath the board on the other side. Cut off any excess webbing.

  Repeat Step 1 to add more webbing, parallel to the first strip of webbing. Leave a 1-inch gap between each strip of webbing.

  Attach a piece of webbing on the center of a board, going the opposite direction to the first strips of webbing. Weave this strip over and under the other strips of webbing. Pull the webbing tight and staple in place on the other side.

  Repeat Step 3 to weave a strip of webbing every 1-inch in that direction. When all of the webbing has been attached, the webbing strips should form a woven mesh pattern.

  Place the bed in a location where your dog likes to sleep. Put some food or treats on top of the bed to encourage your dog to jump up on it.
