How to Arrange a Double Bed in a Corner

A double bed is large enough for one adult to sleep in. Though this isn't a big bed in comparison to a queen or king size mattress, fitting a double bed in a small room still posses challenges. The idea is to maximize space so the room doesn't feel too small. You need to consider other furniture that the room will hold and whether your need for space is one of function or illusion.

Instructions

Choose the corner farthest from the door. This provides an aesthetic viewpoint with the bed as the focal point once you are in the room, but not something seen from a hallway or door. It also provides as much space as possible between the door and the bed, expanding the room visually.

Look at window positioning. Ideally, position the bed away from a window, because being directly under the window leads to heat or cold absorption creating sleep problems.

Consider other furniture in the room. You need enough room on each side of the bed for a nightstand. If you only have one nightstand, consider positioning the bed in the corner, close to the wall with the nightstand next to the bed on the opposite side. Positioning the bed diagonally with the headboard crossing the far corner loses some space behind the bed but allows nightstands on each side.

Place tall dressers on a solid wall opposite the bed. Place short dressers under a window away from the bed to maximize space and balance the room.
