How to Keep a Metal Bed Frame From Sliding on a Wood Floor

The wheels or slides on the bottom of a metal bed frame move freely over hardwood floors. While it might be convenient when you need to move the bed, it can get irritating if the bed slides every time you sit or lay on it. To create a more secure base, you'll need to either replace the slides or wheels with rubber-tipped slides or place something that will grip the floor beneath each leg.

Things You'll Need

  • Rubber furniture cups
  • Rubber-tipped bed slides
  • Rug-gripping pad
  • Area rug

Instructions

    • 1

Place rubber furniture cups beneath each wheel or leg. The rubber will keep the bed from moving around and protect the floor from scratches.

    • 2

Remove the wheels and insert rubber-tipped slides into the holes under the legs.

    • 3

Place a rug-gripping pad with an area rug on top of it on the floor underneath the bed.
